Last night the boy's basketball team went against Columbus Academy's Vikings, #7 in the state of Ohio, only losing by a few points 53 - 50.
"The team probably played their best game of the season. In my book, there is no such thing as a ‘good’ loss but this is about as close as you could get. The game was back and forth, we would hit a three and then would respond it was a shame that either team had to lose. After the game, the AD from Columbus Academy told me how impressed he was with all aspects of our program including are amazing cheerleaders." - Mr. Edwards.
"I have coached over 300 games here at Horizon and lost around 180, and that by far was the best game I ever coached in. I am extremely proud of my guys. They played with heart and passion. Thank you, staff(Mrs. Shuman, Mr. Golding, Mr. McIntyre, Ms. Rivas, and Mr and Mrs Edwards for supporting the team. Great job cheerleaders and students that came to support. We were louder than their crowd by far. Hopefully, we can see more support Saturday against Patriot Prep."- Mr. Tate.
Despite their loss, our team did a great job going against the Vikings!
Our cheerleaders also did an amazing job cheering for our team. "After the game, I was introduced to their assistant and AD- (their AD is OSU basketball alum Jason Singleton). He praised our cheerleaders for being polite and gracious, and how well they did. But he also praised Tate. His words- “You have a great coach, he threw everything he could at us, he’s able to play fast and to also slow it down. He was able to switch it up to match what we were doing. You’ve got yourself a good one.” Tate, keep it up you make a difference and these boys couldn’t have done it without you." - Mrs. Edwards.
Their next game will be on January 13 against Patriot Prep Academy. Click here to check for more: https://www.maxpreps.com/oh/columbus/horizon-science-academy-hawks/basketball/schedule/
