Central Ohio Healthcare Summit

Students in the CTE Health Pathway recently attended the Second Annual Central Ohio Healthcare Summit, held at The Ohio Expo Center’s Lausche Building. This two-day event welcomed over 2,000 students from 43 high schools and featured a public session for all ages. Over 30 hands-on demonstrations were led by the region’s leading healthcare practitioners along with career consultation support from esteemed educators and human resource specialists.

This employer-led event was hosted by the Healthcare Career Collaborative of Central Ohio (HCCOCO), which is powered by Aspyr and includes Mount Carmel Health System, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, OhioHealth, and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. HCCOCO’s mission is to scale career exploration, navigation, and readiness to build a viable talent pipeline for in-demand, clinical healthcare occupations.

In partnership with the Education Service Center of Central Ohio, this two-day, immersive event meaningfully connected participants to both healthcare practitioners and regional healthcare educators through memorable experiences and relevant dialogue about career pathways and daily professional life. The Summit featured educational demonstrations led by respiratory therapists, radiologic technologists, surgical technologists, medical assistants, medical laboratory technicians and registered nurses. These robust activity stations were reinforced by local healthcare education programs that hosted interactive tables. Post-event engagement further connected attendees to regional career exploration opportunities, such as summer exploration camps and work-based learning positions, along with jobs.
